Alamwar: A Legacy Woven in Thread
Rooted in Tradition, Reaching the World
The story of Alamwar begins with a symphony carved in wood. Hand‑crafted blocks—alive with tropical blooms, birds in radiant plumage, and the regal stride of tigers—formed the stylized design vocabulary that shaped the exquisite textiles of India’s Deccan Plateau. These hand‑printed and hand‑painted fabrics, once commissioned by royalty—the Rajas and the Nawabs—came to be known as Chintz and Paisley, motifs now etched permanently into the world’s textile imagination.
India’s textile legacy stretches back to 2500 BC. Celebrated for their color‑rich natural dyes and luxurious silks and cottons, these fabrics captivated travelers and merchants alike. Stories of their brilliance traveled across continents, inspiring a flourishing trade route between India, Europe, and the Far East in the 17th century. Yet textiles in India were never mere adornment. They were storytellers—depicting heroes, gods, and everyday life—and they were economic lifelines, carrying culture and commerce across vast distances.
Alamwar’s archive of hand‑carved blocks still whispers this history. Each block is a tangible link to the Deccan’s artistic heritage, a vessel of memory that informs our contemporary design language. Our prints and motifs reflect a vibrant tapestry of cultural exchange, shaped by centuriesof movement, influence, and imagination.
Crafted With Reverence
At Alamwar, our Home and Fashion collections are crafted with the same reverence for tradition. Hand‑woven linens, silks, and cottons form the foundation of every piece. We remain deeply committed to the artisans who sustain these ancient practices—the weavers, embroiderers, dyers, and painters whose mastery is honed over generations. Their hands, their devotion, and their artistry are the true heartbeat of our work.

Sustainable Practices, Enduring Beauty
At Alamwar, sustainability is not a trend—it is a philosophy. Every textile begins with intention, rooted in ethical production, artisan empowerment, and environmentally conscious methods. We use botanical dyes and azo‑free alternatives to minimize environmental impact and preserve natural resources.
Guided by the principles of slow textiles, we produce in small batches to ensure exceptional quality, reduce waste, and support long‑term ecological balance.
A Legacy of Excellence
For more than two decades, Alamwar has offered a curated collection of finished soft goods—decorative pillows, throws, quilts, and more. Viji Reddy
Founder, Design Director
Viji Reddy is an award‑winning multimedia artist whose lifelong devotion to handmade textiles shapes every facet of her creative practice. Her designs are outward expressions of an inner spiritual journey—an exploration of beauty, intention, and the quiet power of craft.
Her passion for interior design has inspired an extensive collection of linens and home textiles, each piece reflecting her painterly eye and reverence for materiality. As a painter, ceramist, and textile designer,Viji stands firmly in the present while drawing from ancient Indian craft traditions, carrying forward a lineage of artistry with a distinctly modern sensibility.
A committed entrepreneur, she partners with an Indian NGO that uplifts and empowers women in rural communities through embroidery and handwork. Her fashion collections weave together age‑old techniques—printing, dyeing, weaving, and embroidery—into contemporary silhouettes that honor their
origins. In her own workshops in India, a dedicated team of artisans brings her vision to life, translating her ideas into exquisite textiles for modern living.
Viji’s work has been showcased around the world. She has exhibited her award‑winning textiles internationally, curated museum exhibitions on Indian textile heritage, and built a personal collection of rare and exemplary South Asian antique textiles.
With her children grown and charting their own paths, Viji now channels the same nurturing spirit, grace, and creative energy into shaping Alamwar—guiding the brand into its next chapter as a global luxury lifestyle house rooted in craft, culture, and conscious design.

Archi Reddy
President, CEO
Archi Reddy is the younger of the two sisters, carrying forward the same deep passion for preserving textile traditions that runs through the women of the Alamwar family. While Viji introduced Indian textiles to Western fashion, Archi charted a parallel path—raising her family while building and managing multiple business ventures with clarity, discipline, and strategic insight.
With their families now grown and flourishing, it was a natural evolution for the sisters to join forces. Archi brings a powerful blend of business acumen, financial stewardship, and a values‑driven approach that strengthens Alamwar’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and the triple bottom line. Her leadership ensures that the brand’s ethical foundations—sustainability, empowerment, and community impact—are not just ideals, but lived practices.
A connoisseur in her own right, Archi shares the family’s refined aesthetic sensibilities and maintains a personal collection of rare textiles and jewelry. Many of these heirloom inspirations find contemporary expression within Alamwar’s offerings, bridging heritage with modern design.
